The Program at Muskoka Goalie School

Our program is designed to give you a better understanding of goaltending – physically and mentally. Goaltending is full of pressures and we are going to tell you all about these pressures and help you find ways to deal with them.

Being a goalie is one of the toughest positions and possibly the loneliest. You are part of a team, yet you play a good part of each game alone. You are the last person between the puck and the goal. We will explain how to be a good team player and how to communicate with your teammates in games and during practices. Most important, we want you to know how to talk to your coach about any problems you are having and be able to tell him/her what you need. You and the whole team will benefit.

We will help you to develop your own style and find your strengths and weaknesses. We want you to gain respect for yourself and for the contributions you make to your team. You must have confidence in your own ability.

This program includes a dry-land portion. You have to be in good shape if you expect to make split second moves to make a save. Being physically ready for a game can help you relax, and will allow you more time and energy for concentrating on where the puck is at all times. Discipline yourself to follow the program regularly.

The most important thing to remember is that hockey is a game and should be enjoyed. Each practice and game is a new learning experience and challenge. Every time you enter the net give it your best effort; you will come out a winner.

We feel we have something special to offer you. Experience it!
